why learnpipe?

learnpipe started as a simple idea - let's make it really, really easy for people to find the training courses they need. Simple ideas though aren't necessarily all that simple to implement and when we started to work through what we would need to do to create learnpipe, we realised that we had a very big challenge on our hands. Still the lure of creating a site that users could visit to find out what 'SQL Language' courses are running: in Paris; all vendors; within the next month; was too tempting to pass-up.

The basic idea for learnpipe came from the difficulty that a lot of people face when trying to find a course that they are interested in. Short of knowing the major training vendors by name, it is actually quite difficult to get a true picture of what's available on the market. For example, if I google a popular course, such as 'Core Java Programming course', the organic search results are quite diverse (books, Java Docs, Uni links, etc.). Refining your search will help. The sponsored links are closer to what I had in mind but they are not reflective of what's really available on the market.

Conducting the same search on learnpipe will deliver far more concise and accurate results. Vendors feed data to learnpipe through various data submission options (manual, batch, api, web services). We support multiple data submission options so that vendors of ALL sizes can be included. And because vendors can list every course they offer on learnpipe FREE of charge (forever), learnpipe does not erect barriers to discourage vendors from signing-up. The result: excellent search results!

As you can see, learnpipe is still in beta. Over the next few months we will bring a lot of new features on stream. The basic framework is pretty robust and to date, we are very happy with the progress that we've made. We are a little closer to our goal of making training really, really easy to source. We’ll keep you posted!
